Graphitti Designs Contributes Ultra-Rare Watchmen Signed Hardcover to CBLDF San Diego Auction

Graphitti Designs, purveyors of fine licensed products for nearly 20 years is supporting the Fund at Comic-Con by contributing one of the holy grails of fandom to the Fund's benefit auction: the signed, uncirculated deluxe hardcover edition of Watchmen. Originally produced in 1987 by Graphitti Designs and DC Comics, this is the definitive edition of the Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. This black leather-bound, slipcased edition is exactly the same as the one made available to the public, but with one exception...it's signed by Alan and Dave!!

At one time, there were plans for 1000 signed and numbered copies of this landmark book to be made available for sale to the public. A new piece of art was commissioned from Dave Gibbons for use as the exclusive signature page that would be bound into the book. Though DC later decided against producing the book as planned, a small quantity (approx. 100) of this special signed edition, were produced as an "unofficial special edition" for internal use. Once signed, all copies were distributed to the various contributors to use as they saw fit.

Graphitti's Bob Chapman says, "I have seen a few copies pop-up over the years at fund-raisers, auction and on Ebay, but this is literally the holy grail of comics. Though often overheard in dark, smoke-filled rooms as a myth or urban legend, it does actually exist...and it can be yours!"

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.
