Mega-O-Mania! --MegaCon 2002

Florida’s streets were soaked with rain when MegaCon opened on Friday, February 22, but that didn’t stop hundreds of enthusiastic fans from coming through the show over the course of the weekend. Outstanding intern and volunteer Jason Bache ran the Fund's table with Director Charles Brownstein, meeting hundreds of CBLDF supporters over the show’s three days. MegaCon generously donated prime table space where the Fund raised nearly $2,500.

Several creators who support the Fund were in attendance at the show, including Defenders of Liberty George Perez and Brian Pulido as well as graphic novelist Eddie Campbell, who generously donated signed copies of his
work to the Fund. Other friends of the Fund at the show included publishers Top Shelf, Alternative Comics, Highwater Books, Graphitti Designs, and CrossGen. Also attending were artists Sergio Aragones, Joseph Michael Linsner, Mike Avon Oeming, James Kochalka, Jon Lewis, Matt Wagner, David Mack, Billy Tucci, Phil Hester, Team Red Star, and the Violent Messiahs crew.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.
