CBLDF heads to Boston

BostonJoin the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund in welcoming The Great American Expo, October 19-21, to the J. B. Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street, Boston, Massachusetts. The CBLDF will be at the show all three days, along with a host of comic book retailers, industry creators, television and movie personalities, and much more. Organized by Hobby Star Marketing, the folks behind Canada's premier convention, The Canadian National Comic Book Expo, the Boston show is really three shows in one. In addition to a lot of top-notch comic talent and the best retailers on the East Coast, The Great American Comic Book Expo is home to The Great Anime Expo and the Great American Science Fiction Expo. The low price of $29 for a weekend pass (that's only $10 per show!), available at the door, opens all events to the convention attendee. There is a $3-off coupon available at the Hobby Star website for added incentive.

Headlining the show is two generations of the Kubert family, patriarch Joe, and his sons, Andy and Adam. The Kubert family has had a hand in comics from Joe's Golden Age work down to Adam's red hot Ultimate X-Men. Also scheduled to appear are marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada, the popular team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, currently producing Daredevil: Yellow, and Mike Omeing, the extremely talented artist of Powers and Hammer of the Gods. For Anime fans there is Gundam Wing designer Mika Akitaka, and Chirs Sabat, voice actor on the hugely popular Dragon Ball Z. If Science Fiction is more your style, the Expo is offering several of the hottest stars. Among those in attendance will be Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jonathan Franks (Commander Ryker), Star Wars: The Phantom Menace's Ray Park (Darth Maul), and Xena's Hudson Leick (Callisto). This promises to be the largest show in the East Coast in years! Expo President Aman Gupta has stated the intention of establishing this as an annual event, so be there for the inaugural show.

Show hours are, 4-9 Friday October 19, 10-6 Saturday October 20, and 11-6 Sunday October 21. Tickets are available at the door ($15 per day, or $29 for the weekend, and don't forget to get the coupon for $3 off at the Hobby Star website), at www.ticketmaster.com , or by phone at (617)-931-2000. For lodging, call (617)- 332-4199, or go to www.boston-reservations.com. If you have any questions they can be directed at the Expo Hotline, (978)-975-9802. Hope to see you there!
