The Fund Goes to SPACE

In April the Fund office looks like Grand Central Station, with
packages and passengers moving in and out the door every Friday
morning. That's because April is the busiest convention month of the
year, with a show every weekend, scattered all across the country.

Last weekend the Fund went to Planet Comicon in Kansas and I-Con in
New York. Both were fun shows, which we'll be telling you about next
week. Right now we're packed up and waiting for the shuttle to take
us to SPACE.

Yep, there's really a comic show called SPACE, and right now it's
having its fourth show. Held each April in Columbus, Ohio, SPACE has
established itself as a notable venue for small press and creator
owned comics.

This year Dave Sim will be the guest of honor and will present the
Gene Day Prize rewarding 2002's best Self Published comic. The show
will also host a notable list of nearly 200 creators of graphic
novels and small-run comics. Alex Robinson, Jeff Nicholson, Jason
Lex, Joe Zabel, Dan Zettwoch, Jeff Sharp, Scott Roberts, Tyler Page,
Scott Mills, Ted May, Matt Feazell, Farel Dalrymple, and Derf are
just the smallest sampling of great creators who will be at the
show. If you're already familiar with those cartoonists, then you
can see why SPACE is a good show. If you're not familiar with them
and you're in the Columbus area, you owe yourself a trip to SPACE to
see what's happening at on the front lines of independent comics.

While you're there, be sure to support the Fund. We've brought a
stellar sampling of graphic novels & prints with us, with which we're
hoping to raise our attorney's next retainer bill. There's work
there for any budget, from good finds going for $5 and $10 donations
to premium editions that are a steal at a $100 donation. And if you
haven't renewed your membership, there's no better place to do so
this weekend than at SPACE.
