Cartoon Art Museum and CBLDF Party Like Monkeys on Saturday Night!

Saturday night the Fund is teaming up with the Cartoon Art Museum for our third annual APE Party. Everyone through the door gets entered into a raffle to win cool prizes, such as signed prints by Peter Kuper, Neil Gaiman and Craig Thompson, signed books by Gahan Wilson, Neil Gaiman, and Frank Miller, and much more!

It's a $10 suggested donation to get in, but only $5 if you're a card-carrying member of CBLDF or CAM. Mingle with great cartoonists and view these excellent exhibits:

She Draws Comics: Great Women Cartoonists. This exhibition, curated by Trina Robbins, features over 60 great artists, including Marie Severin, Dale Messick, Lynn Johnston, Julie Doucet, Roberta Gregory, Nina Paley, Ellen Forney, Lark Pien, Leela Corman, Alison Bechdel...there's some really incredible stuff in this show, and this is the only scheduled U.S. venue for this exhibition.

Hate Mail: Comic Strip Controversies. A look at comic strips that irritated and confused America, and the reader response that followed. Includes Berkeley Breathed, Garry Trudeau, Wiley Miller and other rabble-rousers.

Small Press Spotlight. You'll definitely hear more about this as it comes together, but this ongoing series will take a look at the best up-and-coming artists in the small press, kicking off with one of the Bay Area's most innovative self-publishers: Jason Shiga!

The Cartoon Art Museum is at 655 Mission Street. Check out their Website: http://www.cartoonart.org
