Greg Rucka Queen & Country Auction Raises Over $3,000

Last week we announced that Greg Rucka would write the winner of a CBLDF benefit auction into his upcoming Queen & Country novel. After a week of fierce bidding, Fund supporter Chris Lankford put in the winning bid of $3,050!

Dr. Lankford is the Chief Technology Officer at Eye Response Technologies, a company that creates tools that empower individuals with disabilities with hands-free communication and computer access through eye movement alone. Chris is one of the founders of Eye Response which also specializes in studying how individuals observe still images, videos, and computer software.

Charles Brownstein told Newsarama, "Greg's always been a great supporter of the Fund. He's very knowledgeable about the First Amendment climate and is a great person to talk to about how the law is changing and why it's important that the Fund maintain a constant, vigilant watch. He understands that the Fund is this business' most important line of defense against would-be censors and shows it by being very generous with donations of signed books, scripts, and appearances at our tables. This fundraiser is a fun and creative escalation of his existing efforts and should help us to put some much needed cash into our War Chest.”

The opening bid for the role was $99.99. The auction closed 7 days and 44 bids later at $3,050.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.
