CBLDF Goes Vegas, Baby!

This weekend the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund will be raising funds and boosting the fun at the inaugural Las Vegas Comic-Con!

Held in the luxurious Mandalay Bay hotel, the Vegas Comic-Con boasts a full house of ace creators including: Brian Azzarello, Chris Bachalo, Brian Michael Bendis, Kurt Busiek, Roman Dirge, Ale Garza, Adam Hughes, Eric Jones, Joe Linsner, Brian Pulido, Darick Robertson, Jill Thompson, Billy Tucci, Judd Winick, and many more!

The Fund will be hosting a number of great events at the show. Here's our convention coordinator Rowan Rozanski to give you the run down:

"Angie at the Con and I have put together a really fun schedule. On Friday we've got Tommy Castillo doing a benefit "How to Draw Comics" class at 1:00 PM. Then at 5:00 we're doing the first of three sketch duels, where we get star artists to give an hour of their time to do some jam drawings that will be auctioned off as soon as they're done to raise money for the CBLDF."

Rozanski continues, "On Saturday we've got another sketch duel from 1:30 to 2:30 and a benefit auction at 8:00 pm. There's some great CGC comics and rare art that'll be auctioned off, so you'll definitely want to be there. Then on Sunday we have one big blowout sketch duel running from 1:30 to 2:30."

Reached on his cel phone on the way to the airport, Fund Director Charles Brownstein told CBLDF News, "It looks like this is gonna be a really fun show. The con gave us a lot of time to do some really cool fundraising and the guests are great. It sure looks like a great way to spend Halloween if you're a comics fan!"

RETAILERS JOIN THE FUN ON MONDAY!

After the Comic-Con winds down, some of the country's top retailers will be coming to town for the Diamond Retailer Summit. CBLDF Director Charles Brownstein and Board Members Chris Staros, Frank Mangiaracina, and Milton Griepp will be at the show to talk about Fund issues. On Tuesday afternoon Brownstein will be manning the Fund table where he'll give away copies of Busted, CBLDF Collection Cans, and other cool premiums for retailers who renew their membership at the show.

Brownstein said, "There's a lot of changes happening in the law right now, so I look forward to the opportunity to mingle with so many of our industry's front line to compare notes about what's happening on a national level with what's happening in their back yard."
