First DF FanFest Packs In the Crowds

The first ever, Free Dynamic Forces Fan Fest was held in Runnemede NJ this past weekend (April 24th at the Holiday Inn), and was a great time for Northeast Comics Fans. The show boasted a guest list that included some of the industry’s biggest names, including Brian Azzarello, Eduardo Risso, Chuck Austen, Jim Starlin, Howard Chaykin, Mark Millar, Josh Middleton, Ale Garza and Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada.

“We exceeded all expectations and came away with a satisfaction of a job well done! This show was from the heart, and our way of giving back to the fans who support DF,” said Nick Barrucci, Fest Organizer and President of Dynamic Forces.

The FanFest was an “old school” comics show, packing top creators into an intimate hotel setting where fans had unprecidented access to the attending creators. At the end of the show, the CBLDF and Dynamic Forces “Pizza with the Pros” for the winners of an earlier auction held to raise funds for the CBLDF.

“FanFest was a good start towards resuscitating the small show as a solid event,” says CBLDF Director Charles Brownstein. “The level of talent in the room and their accessibility to fans is unprecidented in today’s big box comic con world. It’ll be interesting to see how this show evolves in the events to come.”

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.
