Industry Rallies Behind CBLDF At Wizard World Chicago Auction

Join Kevin Smith, Jim Lee, Joe Quesada, Gareb Shamus, and more of the comics industry’s best and brightest by coming out to support the CBLDF’s defense of Gordon Lee at this Friday’s Wizard World benefit auction party. Sponsored by Wizard, the Fund’s auction party gathers top pros and Fund supporters for an evening of mixing, mingling, and bidding on a variety of fantastic items benefiting the Fund’s current casework. The auction will be on Friday night at Wizard World Chicago, with a preview starting at 8:00 PM, and the auction starting at 8:30. The auction will be at the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont Ballroom C/D. A $5 donation gets you into the party, and the first 100 people to make a $20 donation will get a limited Adult Swim collectible courtesy of Palisades.

The auction will be hosted by Wizard to benefit the Fund, and include guest auctioneers Smith, Shamus, Quesada, and Lee putting dozens of cool items up on the block to benefit the Fund’s casework. Items including ultra-rare Marvel Knights collectibles; a one-of-a-kind 8 volume bound hardcover set of Spawn #1 - #96 signed by Todd McFarlane; Identity Crisis #1 RRP edition; original art by Matt Wagner; high grade CGC editions; a MirrorMask script signed by Dave McKean, and much more. Not content with all the cool stuff being auctioned, DC’s editorial honcho Dan DiDio is putting himself on the block for a lunch with the winning bidder at the con! Over 50 items have been donated to the Fund’s auction so far, with more still coming in. A full listing of items for Friday’s auction will be posted on www.cbldf.org and available at the Fund’s booth at WizardWorld on Friday morning.

CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein says, “Wizard has been fantastically supportive of the Fund for years, and when they heard about the case we’re working on went straight to work on making this extraordinary event. It’s been great to see them taking the lead to get so many industry players involved in making a difference on this important case.”

Wizard Chairman and CEO Gareb Shamus says, “We’ve always appreciated what the CBLDF does for the good of our industry and are proud to do our part in supporting the very important work that they do on everyone’s behalf. We hope to make a big difference in their current case by sponsoring this excellent auction party.”

The CBLDF Wizard World auction party will be held on Friday night at the Hyatt Regency at Rosemont, starting at 8:00 PM in Rosemont Ballroom C/D. For more information contact Charles Brownstein at the CBLDF by e-mailing director@cbldf.org.
