Terry Moore To Appear At Austin Books’ Fundraiser For The CBLDF!

On Friday February 3rd, Austin Books & Comics will host a fundraiser and membership drive for the CBLDF from 8-11 PM with special guest Terry Moore, creator of Eisner Award winning STRANGERS IN PARADISE to support the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.

“This is a great opportunity for us to help the cause of free speech,” said Austin Books & Comics Owner Brad Bankston. “This fund is a necessity in the ever evolving marketplace, not everyone is lucky enough to live in a town as free-minded as Austin.”

The party will be limited to 200 tickets sold for a $10 donation. CBLDF members get in free: memberships will be sold at the door for $25. Their donation gets partygoers food, beer and an exclusive STRANGERS IN PARADISE lithograph produced by Terry Moore especially for the event. Partygoers also receive a 25% discount on all graphic novels/trade paperbacks and 50% off back stock comics. There will also be a chance for attendees to win door prizes including STRANGERS IN PARADISE statues autographed by Terry Moore and master sculptor Clayburn S. Moore. Terry Moore will be doing original sketches for additional donations and there will be a silent auction for comics merchandise donated by Austin Books & Comics, Terry Moore, Clayburn S. Moore, and Texas publishers Antarctic Press, Lone Star Press, Penny Farthing Press and Viper Comics.

CBLDF Executive Director, Charles Brownstein, commented, "Austin Books has gone above and beyond in creating a great event that rewards the Fund's members. We're grateful to Brad and his excellent crew, and to Terry and Robyn Moore for getting together to put on a great show for this great cause".

Fans will also get to hang out with Terry Moore, creator of the internationally published story of three friends, Francine, Katchoo and David and the people they fall in and out of love with. It’s a tale of dark pasts and hopeful futures, double-crosses and true friendship, love and hate.

In other words: it’s a story of real life, kicked up a notch.

SiP creator Terry Moore says, "This is going to be a great party for a cause we really believe in. I look forward to meeting all the great fans in Austin and to doing my bit to support the CBLDF's important work."
