The CBLDF is your one-stop source for the best nightlife at Comic-Con! Whether your tastes run towards cocktails under the stars, hard edged punk cabaret, or multimedia DJs & hip-hop icons, the CBLDF has you covered with a full array of outstanding benefit events. Things kick off on Thursday with the Comic-Con Welcome Party at the Westgate Hotel. Amanda Palmer rachets up the energy with a benefit concert on Friday. And on Saturday night, Murs, Eclectic Method, Paul Pope and a host of music and live art masters blow it all out at POPCULTOUR, hosted by Josh Blaylock, Murs, & JahFurry. CBLDF Comic-Con Welcome Party!

Kick off Comic-Con with your favorite creators in a celebration of all things comics at the CBLDF's Comic-Con Welcome Party Thursday, July 23 at the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego! Sponsored by Image Comics, Comic Book Resources, and Things From Another World, with contributions from Cartoon Books, Top Cow, Eva Ink and The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. Join top artists for a night under the stars where you'll enjoy top notch food & drink, witness a fabulous Live Art Jam, and preview the astonishing original art from TFAW.com's CBLDF auction. The CBLDF Welcome Party starts at 7:30 PM on Thursday July 23. Admission is a $5 donation for CBLDF Members, and $10 and up for non-members. The first 100 attendees will receive a gift bag that includes comics from our sponsors, and a gift certificate from Things From Another World!
Enjoy free gourmet bites, a cash bar and the company of comics' greatest creators. Amanda Palmer CBLDF Benefit Concert
Appearing with Vermillion Lies & Featuring Live Art by Jill Thompson!
On Friday night, July 24, Amanda Palmer, the creative force behind Who Killed Amanda Palmer & The Dresden Dolls, headlines a benefit show at the San Diego Women's Club, appearing with Vermillion Lies. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 day of show. Acclaimed graphic novelist Jill Thompson will be creating live art during the event. Vermillion Lies will also be performing. POPCULTOUR
Presented by Coke Zero
POPCULTOUR, produced by Devil's Due and Dub Frequency, is an A-List extravaganza teaming-up creative superheroes who span a multitude of media and benefiting the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Hosted by Josh Blaylock, MURS and JahFurry AKA Jeff Newelt. Featuring live performances by Murs, Hollywood Holt and Rob Roy. Free exclusive Paul Pope print to first 300 attendees!
"Comics Destoyer" Paul Pope opens the evening with a psychedelic space rock set, augmented by projected visuals created in-conjunction with AV/DJ jedi's Eclectic Method. Pope's set segues into a full-on Eclectic Method audio / visual mashup set live-remixing the sights and sounds of music videos, motion pictures, comic books and video games.
Next will be successive performances by visionary hip hop artists Murs, Hollywood Holt and Rob Roy, all of whom share a relentlessly positive ferociously fun vibe.
Throughout the entire evening, Jim Mahfood and his live art crew including Dumperfoo, Mike Huddleston and Scott Morse will be painting complementary visuals to the entertainment and happenings.
The first 300 guests to arrive receive special limited edition prints, created by Paul Pope for this event. Special Toys & Treats from Neon Monster, and a CBLDF benefit raffle cap off the night!
